But it was a production of the Mercury Theatre repertory company, Orson
Welles' own property, in cooperation with John Houseman, who people barely
knew about for years until he stepped before the camera in "Paper Chase".

There would be no point in bickering over this with you or anyone else, but
I say again that upon hearing the original broadcast (recently, as I wasn't
even born in 1938) I still maintain that he went somewhat overboard in his
attempt to create realism.and achieved what he set out to do, strike fear in
the hearts of listeners.

Here, I believe what might be applicable is, instead of the eye, it is all
in the ear of the beholder.

There was a movie made about it some years ago but I don't know if it is
available on video,  It's entitled "The Night That Panicked America"
