Those might all be fine songs, but none of them I'm sure can reach the
same pinnacle of lyric composition as the Who verion. I mean how can you
top this?

Who are you? Who-ooh ooh-ooh?
(I really wanna know)
Who are you? Who-ooh ooh-ooh?
(Yeah I really wanna know)
Who are you? Who-ooh ooh-ooh?
(Tell me who the hell are you?)
Who are you? Whoh ooh-ooh?
(Cause I really wanna know)

Dear John and Beth,
I would suggest that the friend may be looking for the (Worth - Cowan)
song recorded by Ella Fitzgerald (1941), the (Smith-Eager) one recorded
by Erskine Hawkins (1949) or the (Rodgers - Hart) composition featured
by Peggy Lee (1977).
There is also the following:
"Who Are You?" - Composer: Johann Strauss, Jr., Robert Craig Wright, and
George Forrest from the 1972 film 'The Great Waltz'.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
