2010 Sacramento Trad Jazz Youth Band Festival – *Jazz With Personality*

I’m late in following up on a recent thread acknowledging the
importance of stage presence especially in traditional jazz, and how some
musicians seem to come by it more intuitively and naturally. Talented
musicians who’ve elevated this intuitive talent into an art form are very
popular on the jazz festival circuit because they’ve mastered the “*E*-Factor,”
the focus of the 2010 *Sacramento Trad Jazz Youth Band Festival.* Event
organizers will pioneer an exciting Jazz Workshop that demonstrates ensemble
work utilizing the *“E” Factor – how to Excite, Energize, and Engage your
audience*. Festival bands will be encouraged to make the most of their “*E*”
Factor by developing their "Stage Presence," which is an adjudication
criterion (15% weight) in band performances.

If you’re in the Sacramento area on *Saturday, February
13th,*please come by and listen to band performances, onstage
feedback,
mid-morning lecture presentation on the styles of traditional jazz by David
Robinson, lead sheet clinics, and the mid-afternoon jazz workshop. Tickets
are only $10 in advance or $12 at the door, which also include the Hot Jazz
Dance Concert featuring guest pianist Jason Wanner and the Clinicians Band
at 7 pm, all events taking place at Capistrano Hall on the Sacramento State
University campus.
