REG rather than Ray Owen
another KB memory involves him on the JAZZ SCORE radio show of blessed memory --
The name of Bruce Adams came up, and Kenny making the lift of his eyebrows audible insisted HE'S GOT GREAT CHOPS.
GREAT CHOPS
The very seal of admiration! Of course Kenny was not one of those sub-individuals impressed by sheer technical display,
he had an appreciation of craftsmanship of ths sort normally associated less with jazz than with ultra-efficient compliance
with the indications of a score and a conductor when that is in sheerly technical terms difficult.
Many of us would say that Bruce, like Kenny, wasn't just a sublime technician but also a terrific soloist and not just a lot of trumpet.
Kenny was saying that Bruce as well as being a terrific soloist was a sublime technican who played a whale of a lot of trumpet.
