My apologies. I should have said WWI "USO-TYPE" singer. Not sure what that was called in the Great War. Just sure that entertainers entertained.

Frances Langford was a very popular singer in the late thirties and the forties. For example, in the biopic, Yankee Doodle Dandy, she was the WWI USO singer with George M Cohan singing "Over There" in an army camp. She did a lot of real USO tours with Bob Hope.
