Tsk tsk.

All this brouha-ha about The Who.

You can blame their founding on a love of Dixieland Jazz. Seems that
John Entwistle (Bass) and Peter Townsend (guitar) grew up together,
playing in a DIXIELAND BAND in their teens. At the time, Townsend
played banjo and Entwistle played trumpet.

About 1962, the trumpet mouthpiece back pressure got to Entwistle and
the banjo twang got to Townsend (just kidding) and they went to bass
guitar and guitar and formed the Detours. Then, in 1964, they changed
their name to The Who.

Just think, if Townsend and Entwistle didn't like and play Dixieland
together prior to 1962, The Who may have never existed.

Any of our Brit listmates see them as Dixielanders in the late 1959s
or early 60s?

Cheers,
Steve
