Some stations play recordings faster so as to be able to cram in more commercials per hour. There has been many times I have hummed along with a tune, and after several times hearing it, decided to purchase the album. Surprise! I then realize that the song I liked on the radio was at a different tempo and key!
I've gone so far as try to sync the recording with the radio and find it impossible due to the speed differences. I've got a pitch knob on my cassette deck, and my turntable, but not my cd player.
