Dear Dave,
That same year (1975) Jess and I were unable to book into the French Quarter from Australia.
"Wait until you get to New York and book it from there", we were advised.
In NYC, they did't know what we were talking about either and booked us into the Holiday Inn on Canal Street, 'miles' from the our preferred location.
So we walked around, found Olivier House (previously recommended by Oz jazz musos who knew NO) and booked out of 'The Inn', much to their astonishment.
We certainly saved on accommodation and were within minutes of real music and real food.
"...where you get those po'boy sandwiches. Of which I would like to have some of."
[Monday morning's quiz: Who can identify that quote?]
Kind regards,
Bill.
