  You know it's not just the girls who mess up songs.... generally 
speaking the "girls" who sing out of tune/can't phrase etc disappear 
from the scene almost as soon as they arrive.  And they often arrive on 
the arms of besotted older musicians... so some of you have yourselves 
to blame :-)

Sadly, some men on both sides of the Atlantic who mangle songs have a 
ticket for life.. they play in bands.  When I hear of bands that have 5 
"singers", I shudder.  Of course there are loads of instrumentalists who 
sing well ...and I'm sure all you male musicians are one of them :-)

  The problem seems to be that many people see a song as a means of 
projecting their personality.....sometimes that might be  OK  but, to 
me,  a singer's main  job is to interpret a song (and not go flat as 
s(he) does a "big finish" on the last note!)
