For reasons that I won't bore you with, I researched subject party on
Wikipedia earlier today.............well, actually I just wanted to find out
how he had died, and it was in a car wreck..

If you're not old enough to remember him, he did standup much in the manner
of Will Rogers, although he was not quite so bold as his predecessor as to
political references. If he were still alive today, I do not think that
would be the case.

I remember so well his reference to growing up in a small town in Indiana
where "us guys would go downtown on Saturdays to watch haircuts"

I am reminded of Herb every time I hear someone use the phrase, "about as
exciting as watching paint dry"

In any case, I came across an album that he had recorded called "Herb
Shriner on Stage" in 1955 that featured his harmonica band and of course,
obviously standup comedy.

It is available on vinyl at Amazon to the tune of about 42 bucks, a little
steep for something that I would perhaps only listen to once or twice.

If there is anyone reading this who happens to have said album and would be
willing to reproduce it onto either cassette or CD, I would be most
appreciative.

I would of course re-imburse said individual for costs involved in doing so,
or throw me some names and I would be most willing to reciprocate by
furnishing copies of an item or two from my own vast musical collection

If that be the case, I will only furnish my address "off-list" as I already
have more women than I can handle, banging on my door, crying "Let me out,
let me out"...........and who did I steal that line from?

Thanx
HC
