Sorry I can't help with the lone fiddler, but the UK is awash with loan fiddlers. You'll find hundreds in the Yellow Pages under "Bankers." I'll contact a journalist pal who is very well connectred in the UK folk music scene to see if he knows anyone suitable. If he doesn't he'll almost certainly know someone who does.
