Larry Walton wrote about a 25 year gig with the same band at The
Meadow Park Lounge in Florissant Missouri and wondered about trad
bands with long running gigs.

I know that The Gotham Jazzmen performed a noontime concert once a
week (Thursdays) at the Donnell Branch of the New York Public Library
for 32 years, from 1976 to 2008. Because they use a few "working"
musicians, the personnel changes somewhat depending upon those working
guys getting a higher paying gig, and/or going out on the road.. The
Library is undergoing renovations and so that location ceased to be a
venue for a while, but the band still performs on Thursdays at a
nearby branch.

The regular members of that band included a gig buddy of mine from the
1950s, Dick Sherman, Drums and leader for a while. Other who have
regularly appeared with them at Donnell include James Lincoln Collier;
Trombone, Dawes Thompson; guitar, Peter Eklund, trumpet, Don Phillips,
Saxophone; Peter Sokolow, piano; Leroy (Sam) Parkins, clarinet; Dick
Waldburger, Bass;

Others who have played with them a time or two, include Ed Polcer,
trumpet, Lee Lorenz, trumpet; Dick Miller, Piano; Joe Muryani,
clarinet; Orange Kellin, clarinet; Dick Ross, drums; and others.
