How about a digital recorder like the Galaxy hrd2 or the Zoom? You make CD
quality recordings with these. You could then sync it to the video, I would
think.

Subject: [Dixielandjazz] Advice about Mics

Listmates:

Do any of you have any experience with stereo mics
for camcorders?

I've made over 350 videos of bands in the SF Bay Area
and am feeling the need to improve the quality of the sound.

I have a Sony hi-def camcorder.  I bought a Sony external mic
which did not work for me.  It recorded highs, but not lows.
Very tinny sounding.  I think that mic was meant for interviewing,
not recording jazz bands.

I make most of my videos in bars, with my camcorder on a
table tripod.  I never have room for anything very big.

Any suggestions, advice, admonitions?
