Judy, you reminded me.  I take credit for helping avert an  international 
crisis on one of the JazzSea Cruises.  Yep, God Bless America  was being 
played and the lady next to me was near hysteria as she said to me,  "Look at 
all the people not standing up."  I suggested, "Probably about  half of the 
passengers are Canadians".  She looked at me with great  sincerity and said, 
"You are so smart.  I'm glad you thought of  that."
The standing up for God Bless America is a post-911 phenomena as far as I  
have observed.  But it has become such a tradition at St. Louis Banjo Club  
that we can cause a riot if we try to eliminate playing it.  Now, never  
mind that the U.S.A. is not all there is of "America".  Most of my  compatriots 
step back and eye me very suspiciously if I mention that.
