Indeed, this is the first professionally produced CD I haven't been able 
to either copy or translate into .wav files (which is what I was trying 
to do).

And your description sounds apt.  It does seem like I'll be able to make 
a listenable copy, for which I'm glad, for it's the John Gill Bing 
Crosby disc, which is absolutely great.
