I remember reading once that there was an interview with Willie Cornish in The Times Picayune of N.O. in 1931. I've never read it but I recall he was quoted as saying that he (WC) wrote the words to I THOUGHT I HEARD BUDDY BOLDEN SAY. That was eight years before JRM recorded it. And I still don't know how to pronounce PICAYUNE. I'm not even sure that I've spelled it correctly!
