Dear Tito:
Early on, Davern played an Albert System clarinet and sounded very
much like a New Orleans player. He learned to play with an Albert when
in grammar school. He later switched to Boehm, but played both systems
for a while. First time I saw him, he was about 15 and playing an
Albert.
Cheers,

Steve,
Are you sure he didn't learn on the Boehm first THEN during his
"revivalist
period" (he
used to call it) switched to Albert for five or so years THEN went back to
Albert.
Better ask his biographer Ed Meyer.
I think he sold his Alberts to Evan Christopher, you could ask him, as
well.
Regards,
Mark Weber

.......CORRECTION: I should have said that KD eventually after fooling
with Albert System
for awhile THEN went back to Boehm (sp?) not from ALbert to Albert. BUt,
you probably
already figured that out.....
