I attended the Saturday sessions of the Elkhart Festival this past weekend and had an absolutely wonderful time. I would imagine that the offerings were a bit too eclectic for some, but what I was able to hear suited me just fine (Ken Peplowski with two very different groups, one of which included Marty Grosz , Vince Giordano, and Jon-Erik Kellso; the Red Rose Ragtime Band; a fine group from Chicago led by Russ Phillips and including Don Stille and Charlie Braugham; Bucky Pizzarelli with Rossano Sportiello, John Bany, and Martin Bany; the BED trio, sadly without the B -- she was ill --but still great fun, and adding John Sheridan and Joel Forbes; Harry Allen with Warren Vaché and Joe Cohn [son of Al]).

As I had expected, the attendees were an older crowd, though I did see an occasional young face, and I sat next to a teenage guitar player who was transfixed by Bucky P. But I wasn't really able to tell whether the attendance was good. Does anybody here know whether the festival drew as hoped?
