[Dixielandjazz] Swedish/Norwegian/Danish spelling

About Scandinavian spelling and pronounciation: The "å" is originally two "a". In Swedish we do not use "aa" for "å" (my name can not be spelled "Waagerman"), but earlier in Norwegian and Danish: King Haakon, now Håkon, the city Aarhus, now Århus.

Swedish is the only Scandinavian language with "ä" and "ö" (like German); In Norwegian and Danish they use ae and ø.

(We changed our band name Göta River to Gota River to avoid confusion abroad.)

Another option is to use the fact that in (some of ) the Scandinavian languages
the use of a double "a" (e.g. "aa") is equivalent to the character "å".
Thus "Håkan" could be written as "Haakan".
Either is pronounced like a "long o" as in the English language.
A simple, single "a" is prounounced "ah" as in many European languages.

Can you verify that Håkan ?
Is it also true in Swedish?
