Court Retired) and Wynton Marsalis discussing the relationship between  
jazz and democracy.

No doubt John Cocuzzi can attest to the hipness of Justice O'Conner as  
his band played last year at an event connected to her pet project,  
O'Conner House. She wrote him a thank you note which said in part.

"It was especially meaningful to me because jazz musicians communicate  
with each other and listen to each other in an effort to create a good  
final product. That is exactly the process that all of us should  
emp,loy in legislative bodies and in gatherings to resolve important  
public issues. It is jazz that points the way."
