Thanks, Bill. Looks like you have "nailed it" again. With your response
plus that of Charlie Suhor ( will be posted on an upcoming DJML) Marek has
gotten the definitive answers he was seeking.

Appreciate your help.

Jazzfest)

Dear friends,
David Richoux has done it again.
As I knew he would.
In addition to the various answers to Marek's query regarding a Jazz
Festival in New Orleans in 1955, an entry in the 2004 Lawrence
McClellan Jr book "The Later Swing Era, 1942 to 1955" appears to
settle it with the following information:
"Columbia recorded Murphy and his band at the New Orleans Jazz
Festival in 1955. The band performed at the Municipal Auditorium, on
board the S.S. President riverboat, and at the Delgado Museum of Art
during the three-day festival. Columbia covered the performances with
two engineers and the same equipment used to record the Philadelphia
Orchestra a week before the New Orleans' Festival."
It looks like we now have the lot.
As Mike Logsdon pointed out to me off list, I have the Turk Murphy
session referred to by Marek on a commercial CD.
A recent Jasmine release JASCD 439 "Turk's Delight'.
Silly me.
It seems that my friend Mike knows more about my collection than I do.

Very kind regards,
Bill.
