One other major aspect of "Gypsy Jazz" has been developing in the
regions of former Yugoslavia - Balkan Brass! I know some of you have
seen previous messages from me about this particular style of
improvised music, but it is worth repeating. The Brass Band Tradition
that started in that region after the Turkish Invasion has continued
to evolve, mixing bits of Klezmer, Military Band, Village bands and
Gypsy musicianship - now taking in "World Beat," Jazz, Rock and so
much more.

It is sometimes hard to get into the flavor of the music because of
the unusual rhythmic structure, but it is a danceable "Folk" style.
There are huge festivals and many bands all over the word are picking
up on this kind of music. If you do a Youtube search on Balkan Brass
you will get a good taste of it, and you might like it - not OKOM,
sure - but worth a listen!
