Ken's job is safe. The thought of that percussionist operating indoors in a public venue without smoking (illegal in UK as in NYC etc) is inconceivable.
A now departed Chicago bluesman when young -- and as little known as he remained -- once came onstage in Green's Playhouse in Glasgow wearing his guitar and bearing a chair, on which was a remarkably compact item known to some unhappy few as a drum machine.
Now I know they should have engaged a MIssissippi farmhand, who could have driven on aboard and used a borrowed local tractor. Which could later have been used to transport ice cream the vast distances within the auditorium?
Very High Ceilings to cope with fumes too, capacity 3,500, this enormous theatre's last days were thoughtfully managed, it being used first of all as a rock venue so the noise weakened the structure and softened up the building for the in name and fact demolishers.
