[Dixielandjazz] 13 year old Jazz Violinist Jonathan Russell

This weekend will be the last chance you have this year to see/hear  
Jonathan Russell in performance in this area. He will be performing  
with the Barbone Street Jazz Band, Saturday and Sunday, September 6th  
and 7th from Noon to 3 PM both days at the Laurels International  
Autumn Celebration in West Grove PA.

Jonathan is a 13 year old budding JAZZ GIANT, from New York City  who   
performed with us several times a year for the past 5 years. He was  
recently booked by Wynton Marsalis to perform at Lincoln Center with  
the Lincoln Center Jazz band, for 3 nights this November. He has also  
performed with legendary jazz guitarists Les Paul and Bucky  
Pizzarelli, jazz violinists Svend Asmussen, Johnny Frigo and Regina  
Carter as well as with a host of other jazz legends.

When he was 9, he won the American String Teachers award for best  
alternative music improvisation in the under 13 category. He was then  
invited by Ms. Carter to join a jazz master class at Lincoln Center,  
and became the youngest jazz musician ever to attend such a workshop.

He has played recently at jazz festivals all over the world. Including  
Bohem in Hungary, The Jazz Jubilee in Sacramento and The New Orleans  
Jazz and Heritage Festival, all to rave reviews and cheering crowds.  
He currently studies violin with grammy winner Andy Stein and theory  
and harmony with legendary bop pianist and jazz master Barry Harris.

Some of you have seen him with us, some have booked us to perform  
together. For those who have not seen him, I urge you to do so.   
Especially those who produce concerts. He is a natural for the many  
concert events in this area, especially if you wish to draw new  
audiences. We're background music at this multi themed equestrian  
event so these will be relaxed, up close and personal jazz  
performances, the kind both Jonathan and Barbone Street love. Details

West Grove PA

North on Route 41 from US 1, go 300 yards, turn right on Woodview Rd.  
follow the double yellow line for a mile to the event. (outdoors, rain  
or shine) We'll be performing from Noon to 3:00 PM Sat & Sun. There is  
a parking charge of $10 per car but event admission for all occupants  
is FREE. Event runs from 9 AM to 4 PM
