Dear friends,
Many of you may remember bass player Ross Anderson's popular New
Melbourne Jazz Band from Australia.
It was formed by Ross in 1981 and appeared to great acclaim at the
World Dixieland Jazz Jubilee in Sacramento CA in 1984.
The band was invited back in 1985 and, over the years, have
represented Australia at numerous overseas jazz festivals including
fifteen in the US and Canada plus Bahrain, Hong Kong, Singapore,
Vanuatu, Fiji and in Australia.
Yesterday at a special function, opened by the Member of Parliament
for Bayswater, Heidi Victoria MLA, the band was appropriately honoured
by the Victorian Jazz Archive.
Past and present members of the group are the subject of the Archive's
current 'Legends of Jazz Pictorial History Exhibition' at the Archive
premises at Wantirna, Melbourne, Australia.
Congratulations me old mate.
Here's to another 27 years of leading The New Melbourne Jazz Band.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
