[Dixielandjazz] Does Loud equal Fire.

I recall a wonderful band from the SF Bay Area, the Magnolia Jazz Band.
Not a single technical wizard or star in the lineup. No esoteric agenda.
They played old, well known tunes. No originals or interpretations of
contemporary hits. Every musician played from the heart.

Mostly ensemble, with a few simple solos. Started the tune whisper
quiet, playing each ensuing chorus with just a little more volume and
energy. The developing excitement was tangible. Even the final choruses
weren't loud, but the electricity was magic.

One of my favorite memories. Taught me a lesson in dynamics.
