Can anyone add anything to the following:

If performing in what I consider to be some of the very finest of all sides
by a New Orleans-style band warrants honorary Crescent City citizenship, then
Joe Clark merits that distinction. The New Orleans Wanderers and New Orleans
Bootblacks sides recorded in Chicago, 1926 featured George Mitchell, Kid Ory,
Johnny Dodds, Lil Hardin, Johnny St. Cyr, and on some of the tracks an alto
saxophonist listed by Delaunay as "probably Stomp Evans." It was years
later that a proper identification of Joe Clark was made. But who was he? No use
looking in New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, Chilton, or Black Beauty White Heat.
In Blesh under "C" there is reference to such essential obscurities as
"circumcision rituals" but no Clark either.
Anything?
Brian Wood
