Gee, I didn't mean to start a new discussion about his playing ability.

His expertise matters little. That band draws a crowd and they pay
$100+ to see a two set program. 3000 of them at Montreal. Dedicated
OKOMers? Who knows.

Whether he is good or not, or why people go to see him (or not) makes
little difference. That is a matter for each individual listener to
decide. Either way, the rest of the band is excellent and they
certainly seem to satisfy the audience for the most part.

Shoot, I was going to suggest that some of those dying OKOM Festivals
around the USA consider trying to get him as a headliner. After all,
his band alone draws more paying customers than a lot of festivals do.
At prices higher than many festivals charge for an all events pass.
And his reviews are generally just fine.

Now hold the cards and letters about does the general public know
anything about New Orleans Jazz. That's irrelevant. The real issue
is, if he plays, will they come? That answer seems to be yes.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone
