My point was that these terms, as Jazz Jerry said, get bastardized and  
so "Hot Dance now seems to mean what Brittany Spears and Carmen  
Electra are doing on the above videos. Perhaps it was also what Oliver  
and Armstrong were doing at Lincoln Gardens in a smaller than 10 piece  
band? Or was that Dixieland, or was it New Orleans Jazz, Uptown or  
Downtown style? Etc.

As to what the term originally meant,  well, the ODJB was playing hot  
dance music 90 years ago. Only later did the music get called Dixieland.

Hot Dance? Maybe that's what Evan Christopher plays on his strip club  
gigs. <grin>
