I think Larry is still emerging, period.  I played a gig with him  yesterday 
and his horn was not just smokin', but on fire!  Something I  noticed was how 
when just one starts laying it out there,  it wakes up the whole group.  Your 
brain suddenly goes, "Sh---, this  ain't the same band I played with last 
time."  So whatever he's doing is  indeed working.
