Hi Fr Mike:

John Chambless wrote me a note thanking me for making that web site
available to the DJML and other trad lists. He said his dad, Bill, would
have been pleased that fans of OKOM outside the station's reach may now to
be able to hear it, and download it.

Spoke to him today and he is working on including all the shows his dad
aired. That would be about some 900 shows since his dad did one per week for
18 years. Not sure how many may have been repeated, or what the net total
is. Not sure John knows either.

Trombonist Pete Pepke, who some on the list know, was a guest on the show
several times and they played records from Pete's extensive 78 collection.
Those would be some really fine early Dixieland sides. Original Hot 5/7 etc.

John is a good friend here in Chester County PA and has given my band a lot
of free publicity over the years in the West Chester Daily Local News. Their
circulation is 30,000 and the company that owns them owns several other area
newspapers with a combined circulation of about 80,000 which piggy back on
his articles. As Eddie Condon always said, there is no substitute for
networking with Newspaper guys.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone

P. S. Did you hear Ethel Waters' "I Can't Give You Anything But Love" on the
"Love Song" program? She was a local girl, born in Chester PA.
