[Dixielandjazz] Aging public?

Last night my friends and I went to hear Swing de Gitanes at a nearby
neighbourhood club (those clubs are called Culture, Youth and Sports
clubs). The crowd was small - some 35 people, but there were no more
than five "over 65" listeners, and perhaps two more "over 60." Even
my "over 50" friend was among the elder members.
Most people were young, and some came with their little children. And
the public was extremely enthusiastic.
I was not a free event, even though not expensive. The price was
around $10 (more, because of the depreciation of the dollar, but four
months ago it would have been less, as it was denominated in shekels).
The cold weather did not deter the mostly young public from coming
and paying admission in order to LISTEN to OKOM!
So jazz may be dying in the States, but is alive and well elsewher!
Cheers,
Marek
