Yeah,
there is always a spill over from the applause which covers the beginnng of 
the new solo but this has always been so. I have no knowledge of a `populist 
movement` to stamp it out. Sounds highly unlikely to me. How would you go 
about it? Try to organise a jazz audience? The best of luck!  Announce it 
from the stage? You would be told where to stuff it in no uncertain times at 
my local club.
A short word beginning with b and ending with s and ryhming with part of a 
rowing boat springs to mind.
