Hi, Zach ...

If you're still in the SF Bay Area on Saturday and/or Sunday, I'll be
playing with two different versions of the same band, both within driving
distance for you.

On Saturday night, Ted Shafer's Jelly Roll Jazz Band plays from 7 - 10 PM at
the Manna Thai Restaurant, 414 Ferry Street, Martinez, CA. Their "back
room" has a small stage and an nice dance floor, and we generally have a
nice crowd. This version of the band is usually 6 players, and is highly
improvisatory. You can also get to Martinez via BART to Oakland and then
Amtrak to Martinez, and the restaurant is only a block from the Amtrak
station. (But don't miss the last train back to Oakland ...)

On Sunday afternoon, the nine-piece version of the Jelly Roll Jazz Band will
be playing for the Napa Valley Dixieland Jazz Society at the Elks Lodge,
2840 Soscol Ave., Napa, CA. The band plays from 1-5 PM. This band plays
custom two-cornet arrangements, some in the style of the King Oliver Creole
Jazz Band of the 1920's and others more in the Lu Watters West Coast Revival
style.

There are also three open jam sets, for which you'd need to bring your
instrument and arrive by 1 PM to get signed up.

I'll be playing Tuba for both appearances.

Hope it's in the cards for you to come and hear us!
