In his liner notes for Stomp Off LP 1031, a Hall Brothers Jazz Band
recording from 1981, William Schaefer wrote,

"'Indian Sagua' is a vaudeville-revue novelty, exotica from New
Orleans's Thomas S. Allen, a red-faced comedy specialist ('Big Chief Battle
Ax' is another Allen work). The number features a spectacular skyrocketing
introduction and cascade breaks much-plagiarized in 1920s New Orleans--see
Brownlee's Orchestra's 'Peculiar' (1925) or the Jones-Collins Astoria Hot
Eight's 'Damp Weather' (1929)."
