Hi Steve and all,
Interesting article - I had one bad habit when I first worked on cruise
ships. I quickly learned that I could NOT lean back and close my eyes when
playing on rough seas...
One of greatest self taught lessons was to take a piece of cardboard and
place it over the keys (about 6 inches above - console piano...)
It forced me (a reader, back then) NOT to keep looking at the keys - To this
day people ask me why I don't look down like most piano players when I'm
playing. I usually tell them, "Well, last time I checked they haven't moved
the keys around on me, and I know where most of them are..."
ALL the Best,
Steve
