Important thing to know about charity gigs is...is anyone getting paid?
"Oh, the guys that put up the stage got paid?"  "Oops, the sound guys got
paid!"  "Oh, my, yes we did have to pay to rent a piano!"  Then, by golly,
the band should be paid!!  

I have played charities where the big name singer gave his time free, but
the working musicians got paid.  The big name guy goes on tv & talks about
his charity gig.  Guess who gets the promotional benefits?  Certainly not
the backing musicians.
