There was mention of Carla Bley in a recent post to DJML.....

About the time Pink Floyd's movie "The Wall" premiered, Floyd's drummer Nick
Mason recorded an album with Carla Bley & her clan of NYC avant gard
musicians.  A very jazzy album which swings  gobs.

His comment to me about the album, when I complemented him on how good it
was,  was how lucky he was to be a part of Pink Floyd & get to play with
such great musicians as Carla & her crowd!  

The album is actually titled in his name, not Bley's, but his reaction to my
comments showed what a true gentleman Mason really is.  And, there's some
good drumming on that album.

For those in the U.K., there is a Pink Floyd special on Sky on Christmas
evening.
