This question came to the Pensacola Historical society and was referred to
me. In a Mississippi John Hurt song there is a referent to a money moulder.

Any help from you scholars out there? As of now, no evidence that there was
ever a mint in Pensacola.

Thanks.

Subject: A historical question about Pensacola

Hello

I wonder if you can help me? I am researching a book I am writing about the
Mississippi musician, Mississippi John Hurt, who lived between Greenwood and
Grenada in Carroll County.

He sang a song called Nobody's Business. One of the verses in his song goes,

'Going back to Pensacola, gonna buy my baby a money moulder'.

Have you any idea what a money molder or moulder is?

I wondered if it could be that it was a mould that would be used to make
money - in which case it would be a very fine gift!

In this connection, I wondered if there was ever a money making factory in
Pensacola?

Any help or ideas will be much appreciated and fully acknowledged.

Thanks

Philip R Ratcliffe
