Jack & Nan;

San Diego was also the last appearance of banjoist Jim Marsh with the Grand
Dominion Jazz Band. He's now retired.

It was sweet & sour. Sweet for the great bands and wonderful music; sour
for seeing the last festival appearance of Buck Creek :-( We loved them
so.

This makes twice we have been at the last festival appearance of a favorite

band. First was Wooden Nickel at Pismo, now Buck Creek at SD. Oh, well,
we
got absolutely wonderful years from both; 25 from BCJB; only 6, but an
intense 6, from WNJB. Nice to see WNJB people at fests, like Paul & Bob at
SD.

Also was impressed with Statesmen at SD; Pieter Meijers & Bob Wilbur being
2
of 3 reeds. very smooth.

Also loved the contra bass sax played by Paul Woltz of ULJB, provided by
the
company that distributes the horns in the US; nice touch. Hoped to hear
Pieter do a set with them, but schedules prevented that; maybe next
time-June in
Washington.
