I don't either. Perhaps the original poster meant to say Peanuts was  
on  the Lawrence Welk show?

Also, as Hal Vickery thought,the McGuire Sisters got their first taste  
of fame on the Arthur Godfrey shows. They did indeed replace the  
Chordettes on his morning show after appearing on his Talent Scouts  
show. Those of us who were alive at the time, and interested in  
Godfrey's musical stature probably agree that being on his shows was a  
huge boost to a singer, or group's popularity. Because of that  
exposure, they were probably the best known female singing group in  
the USA.

The various Godfrey shows were at the top of the heap in the  
broadcasting business back then. I don't think anyone today comes  
close in terms of power in the industry.
