Lowell Busching has graciously explained to me "ooflist" that I misunderstood his post and I certainly agree.
 
I posted my experience making mp3s that I could put on a www site where they could be listened to and even "down loaded" by others.
 
It missed the point Lowell was making about equipment other than a computer to make mp3s.
 
The version of Windows Media Player I use is: 11.0.5721.5230.
 
On  its "menu" it includes a selection of "Sync" which when clicked allows one to "sync content to and from your portable devices."
 
I was using my computor to take audio from the computer's Cdplayer
and using the WMP to make the CD tracks into mp3 format which I then could upload to the www.esnips.com site for listening.
 
I hope this clears it up for Lowell and anyone else concerned.
