Bill,

Great clip!

I think he is just playing his lips - Air Trumpet - on the first  
song. I have heard and seen other people do this. The tin can he uses  
in the second bit of the song is just a sort of megaphone/sound  
director.  On "My Gal Sal" it looks like he has some sort of Kazoo -  
or something - in his hands, but I cannot make it out.

I will post the link and question to the Jugband list and see if  
anybody there knows more.
