Don, you must be some relation to Ub?

A sweet old lady who's a good friend is Rudy Ising's niece. There's an Iwerks theater here in KC, at Union Station.
Of course, Ub and Rudy were both from KC originally.

For anyone wondering what this is about, Ub Iwerks was one of Disney's longtime friends and associates. It seems that it was really Ub (pronounced EWE-bee) who developed Mickey Mouse. He worked for a couple other studios, including WB and Iwerks Studios (imagine that!), but went back to Disney and became a leader in the development of special effects in film.

There is now a string of theaters called Iwerks theaters, similar to but totally different from IMAX.

I hope, Don, you say YES, that's my.....whatever relation. He's a legend!

Rudy Ising also worked for Disney, then legendarily had a difference of opinion and left for WB, MGM, and others. He won an Oscar for a cartoon short in the 40s. Rudy is the creator of Bosco, the original Warner Bros. cartoon character.

Can you tell I'm a cartoon short freak? Requisite content: LOTS of OKOM in the WB, MGM, Universal, and other cartoons of the 30s-60s. My favorite is "King Chanticleer" in a tavern scene with Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam.
