Charlie:
Yes, because their playing recalls great saxophone playing from the era
before or directly after WWII. Both of them seem to be heavily influenced by
the "4 Brothers" tenor players Zoot Sims, Al Cohn and Stan Getz, all of
which were not mere slavish copiers of Charlie Parker but more influenced by
Lester Young.
Plus, Harry and Scott can be heard at the same festivals worldwide that
feature more traditional bands and players.
On cornet, you can also include Warren Vaché Jr. who also defies
classification as to bop/trad.

Well stated, Donald!
We tolerate Barbone's postings illustrating his broad interest in all
types of jazz, primarily because he does post articles and comments
about OKOM, but as you stated, postings strictly about avant-gard
non-melodic players are not appropriate for DJML.
Not even if they're about Kenny G, who was selected as the number one
jazz saxophone player in several polls. At least he's musical, and not a
squawker like many of the more avant gardists.
Now, about Harry Allen and Scott Hamilton -- two of my favorite tenor
men. Do you personally consider them OKOM and appropriate for DJML?
