Hell all,
I was surprised to hear that Miller mentioned Dodds among his influences.
Both he and Bud Freeman independently developed very similar styles.
My ears indicate taht they can be traced back to Rappolo, and even
more so - to the Creole clarinet players, as can be the style of
Lester Young. Just listen to Miller playing clarinet!
