I have never come across any reference to Eddie Miller being influenced by  
anyone else, or that he played alto although most reed players can switch.
MILLER, Edward Raymond “Eddie”       Tenor  sax; clarinet
Born 1911, Jun 23; New  Orleans     Died 1991, Apr 1
Real name Müller. Most  people who knew him commented on his fine playing but 
also mention his  diminutive stature. Worked local gigs whilst still in his 
teens. Played with the  New Orleans Owls in 1928. Left to achieve world fame 
with Ben Pollack and Bob  Crosby. Recorded: Bob Crosby Bob Cats; also Wingy 
Manone; and the New Orleans  Rhythm Kings Revival; plus Louis Prima, etc. Worked 
mostly in New Orleans from  1967 to 1976 when he went to California. Toured 
Europe and was at the 1981 Nice  Jazz Festival with Bob Crosby. In 1988 he 
suffered a stroke which ended his  playing career.
