Don't know about Kenton and tenor sax, but do know that Ornette Coleman did
indeed play tenor as well as alto.

He started out on Tenor in an R & B band in Texas. Then one night in the
late 1940s or early 1950s after a gig he was beaten up and the sax
destroyed. Not sure if it was a critic, or a robbery.<grin> But he then
switched to Alto.

He went back to Tenor on occasion, recording on Tenor in 1961 for Atlantic
records (I think it was Atlantic, memory is suspect).
