Sorry,
Sometimes it takes me time to catch up on the topics.

Coincidence time:
Harry Sheppard lived very near me on Long Island.
I never met him.
I went to hear a Houston Big Band last Sunday and learned
that Harry will be playing with them next week. I will
attend and finally get to meet him.

I mentioned to my wife the someone on the list was talking
about Sol Yaged. She is busy transferring pictures from
an old photo album to a new one. Damn if she wasn't just
up to a pic that Sol gave me in 1957. It's him teaching Steve
to hold a clarinet - Benny Goodman style.

Sol gave me the picture when I hired Charlie Shavers,
Marty Napoleon, Sol and someone else straight out of the Metropole
to play a concert with my group in Hempstead N.Y.
(I was leader of the house, show, band there.)

Name of the club was the Paraglide. Two brothers owned the
joint. Rising stage for shows and all. One of the brothers was
a veteran paratrooper and the other flew a glider in the air force.

Cheers,
Al
