Perhaps the difference was in deference to his age.  I believe he was in his
90s when that bit was filmed.

Interesting about the clip that the instrument, was the difference in the
actual solo to his transcribed "Obbligato" that all clarinet players aspire
to emulate. Looks like Picou himself was not strictly bound by his own
"original" transcription.
